Counting My Blessings

It's been awhile since I've posted, mostly since our camera broke and I haven't quite figured out how to download the pictures off of my phone. But I figured today was a good day to get back on here since I've just been feeling so blessed. God reminded me today of several things I had forgotten about, things He has worked out in ways that only He could have. Just like the children of Israel, I need to often remind myself of how God has blessed me and has worked in my past so that I will continue to trust Him with my future....not only for building my faith, but also to share with others in the hope that their faith might also grow. So I shall now count my blessings, name them one by one (I know I'll forget a million of them, but I want to at least try):

*I am a daughter of the King of Glory! How amazing is that!

*I have the most amazing husband! He loves me so much and I don't even know why! He loves God more than me, hears from Him, and follows Him. I'm so blessed to have him leading our family.

*I have been given the unbelievable blessing of being the mother to 4 beautiful, healthy children. I have friends who've never been able to have children and my heart aches for them. I don't know why God has chosen to allow me to experience motherhood, but I cannot thank Him enough for this privilege.

*We have had God provide for us as a family in the most amazing ways: money, furniture, a helping hand, and countless other things from friends and family; jobs that came through at just the right time; renters (even though I hate being a "landlord") so that we didn't have to lose our home; homeless men on the highway who "happened" to have exactly the tool we needed to fix a flat tire (if you haven't heard that story, please ask....it's cool!); getting to live in this beautiful home in NC for much less rent than it should cost; and the list goes on!

I know there's so much more to be thankful for. A friend of mine posts on her blog every Thursday the specific things she's thankful for. I think I will start doing the same. Purposely looking for blessings in my everyday life is something I need to do more of. How about you? What are you thankful for? How have you seen the Lord work in your life?

  1. I too am blessed in a lot of ways that you mentioned... another thing I am grateful is Facebook... I know, that sounds silly. But it has helped me stay in touch with folks I would otherwise be 'too busy' to call or email... and there has been more than one time when God led someone to post a scripture that was exactly what I needed to hear at that moment.
There are a lot of things going on in my kids' lives that I am struggling having to sit back and watch, unable to do anything about it. But even in that, I see God working. I see Him allowing us to go through this experience to (possibly) help other parents in the same place. So even though it's a painful time, I am also 'expectant' to see what God is doing!

  2. I'm blest for having such an amazing daughter like you. For all the mistakes I have made, you surly do make a mother proud. I am also blest for having Elena, who is strong and Chris who is kind and gentle. God too has blessed me in many ways. It helps when you can see that your cup is half full for all the blessing that you recieve, and not half empty, cause than you cannot see how God is always meeting our needs. What a Wonderful God we serve.
