I meant to post yesterday but I forgot! Oopsie! But I was thinking about it all day, purposing to look for the things that I am thankful for. What I kept coming back to was the fact that I live in a free country.
Despite the fact that I don't agree with many of the political things going on, despite the fact that I think this country has gone downhill and is continuing down a slippery slope, I still am FREE!
Free to write this blog, free to worship God in a church and own as many Bibles as I want, free to teach my children at home, free to HAVE children (as many as I want), free to come and go as I please, and so many other things that I know I take for granted. One only needs to watch the news for a couple days to realize how "unfree" much of the rest of the world is.
Many of us gripe and complain about the things we don't like or disagree with in this country, myself included at times, and yet we forget how blessed we actually are. The mere fact that we CAN gripe and complain without fear shows once again how amazing our freedom actually is.
I don't know about you, but I'm grateful, very thankful, that I can call myself an American. I am thankful for the many lives that have been sacrificed over hundreds of years on behalf of our freedom. I know that there are plenty of men and women whose lives were taken because they were willing to fight for MY freedom, even though they would never meet me or even know I existed! How thankful I am for the current soldiers who, despite what differences of opinion they might have about their assignment, are dedicated to the cause of freedom. We are alive and well and FREE because of their sacrifice.
Amen sister! (I love to see you're using your new family photo here, and FB as well! How sweet! I've got more to come...I'll be working to finish them up by Wed. of next wk)
ReplyDeleteYou go girl!!! I get worked up over those who forget that our soldiers are willing to protect our freedom. FREEDOM IS NOT FREE!
ReplyDeleteGod bless the United States of America and bring her back to Him.
