Wednesday night provided some much needed clarity about the job in California. Aron had another phone interview which I was able to be a part of via speaker phone. Hearing the search committee clarify and ask questions and me being able to do the same has really helped me feel more comfortable about this cross-country move. Praise God! God had already dealt with my heart about moving, helping me to submit to whatever His plans would be, but He also gave me the added "security" I needed by allowing me to be a part of the interview process.
At the end of the interview, they asked if we'd be able to fly out to meet everyone and to see the ministry that we'd be doing and also informed us that the Senior Pastor would be calling the next day to speak with Aron. That interview went really well and the pastor seemed really excited about Aron's desire to help dad's lead their sons and do rites of passage.
Now, while the job has not been "officially" offered to Aron as in a "You're hired" statement, the fact that they told us to go ahead and buy the plane tickets (which they'll be reimbursing us for and which will be costing their church almost $1000) and the way Aron said the pastor spoke with him yesterday in "Here's what you'll be doing when you're here" style, we feel confident that the job is Aron's. So much so that we've decided to make our last day here in NC September 12th, which should give us enough time to buy a covered trailer which we'll use to take all of our stuff across country...and in faith that the job really is Aron's we'll be taking all of our possessions down to Florida for one last extended family visit. We realized that since we have direction now and since we'll need someone to watch our children while we're in CA and since we have to be in FL on October 1st for a wedding, we might as well go now.
Now the realities of all that this move will entail are starting to kick in....leaving our wonderful friends here in NC and our church that we love so much, leaving all of our family on the East Coast and not knowing when God will provide for us to see them again, going to an unknown place and trying to find the right house at the right price for us to rent, finding a homeschool group to get involved in, and making new friends. Yikes!!! But with all that said, I'm starting to get excited. When I see how this has all been orchestrated, none of it by us (I mean, they found Aron, not the other way around), when I look back at the amazing ways God has provided for us in the past, I feel confident in Him. I'm ready for the plans God has in store for us. I'm ready to step out and make this giant leap into the unknown. Please continue to pray for us, for God to continue put this all together as only He can.
Cessie, I'm so amazed by God. Thank you for being such an encouragement to me by the word of your testimony. Your friends will be right here cheering you on, and we are only a facebook away. If you join skype, we can even video chat too!! This is what we do with family and it is the next best thing to being there with them! Please keep us posted! Jenn
ReplyDeleteYour blog today has made me cry. Watching how you and Aron have allowed God to work in your life has amazed me so, now if God could only work a miracle with Luis, so he too can see how amazing God can be. I love you both so much and so very proud of you both. See you soon.
ReplyDeleteI'm excited for you guys! What part of California will you be moving to?
ReplyDeleteAmy,
ReplyDeleteAssuming it all works out, we will be moving to Bakersfield, CA which is about 100 miles northeast of Los Angeles.
